Spalted Maple // Pine Base

I found this pine trunk a couple of years ago out in the woods and just saw how it would fit to the maple top. The base here has taken two years to dry out and in that time there has been natural splitting of the wood after the debarking process. I might add also that in the drying of the maple top there was a splitting that occurred which gave me the idea of using a two-part polymer wood filler.

I tend to enjoy and make use of the splitting that goes on while the wood is drying out and by doing this there is a satisfaction that comes from knowing that the character of the wood is coming forth in all its beauty.
